Important Notice to All Students

All students are required to read and strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of The Heritage College. Ignorance of any rule will not be accepted as an excuse. Any violation may result in disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by the college authority. These rules are subject to revision by the management.

Silence must be maintained inside the library at all times
Books must be returned within the due date to avoid fines

Library card is non-transferable and must be carried at all times
Fee & Finance Policy
Semester fees must be paid within the stipulated deadline
Late fee penalty applicable after due date
Fee receipts must be preserved for the entire academic year
Refund policy as per University of Calcutta norms
Digital & Social Media Policy
College name must not be misused on any social media platform
Photography/recording on campus requires prior permission
College Wi-Fi usage is restricted to academic purposes only
Cyber misconduct will be treated as a disciplinary offence
 Detailed Rules
  • 1 Students must carry their college identity card at all times on campus and produce it on demand by any authorised person. Mandatory
  • 2 Respectful behaviour towards all faculty members, non-teaching staff, and fellow students is expected at all times. Mandatory
  • 3 Any form of ragging is strictly prohibited and is a punishable offence under UGC regulations and Indian law. Strict
  • 4 Students must maintain cleanliness and hygiene on campus. Littering is strictly prohibited. Important
  • 5 Involvement in any political activity, processions or demonstrations within college premises is prohibited. Strict
  • 6 Damage to college property will be penalised; students responsible will be required to compensate for the damage caused. Mandatory
  • 7 Students must obtain prior written permission for organising any event, programme or gathering on college premises. Important
  • 8 Gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment, or any form of misconduct will lead to immediate disciplinary action. Strict
  • 9 Students are expected to behave responsibly on and off campus; misconduct outside the institution may also invite disciplinary measures. Note
  • 10 The college reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, for serious misconduct. Strict
  • 1 A minimum of 75% attendance is compulsory in each subject every semester as per University of Calcutta norms. Mandatory
  • 2 Students falling below 75% will be debarred from appearing in the University examinations without any exception. Strict
  • 3 Attendance will be recorded at the commencement of every class. Proxy attendance is a punishable offence. Strict
  • 4 Students must report to class within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time; otherwise, they will be marked absent for that class. Important
  • 5 Leave of absence must be applied for in advance through the prescribed application form submitted to the class teacher. Note
  • 6 Medical leave may be considered with a valid certificate from a registered medical practitioner submitted within 7 days of rejoining. Note
  • 1 Students must bring their college identity card and admit card to all examinations — both internal and University. Mandatory
  • 2 Use of unfair means during examinations — including mobile phones, chits, or impersonation — will lead to immediate cancellation of the paper and disciplinary action. Strict
  • 3 Students must take their seats at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the examination. Important
  • 4 No student will be permitted to leave the examination hall within the first 30 minutes of the commencement of the paper. Important
  • 5 Internal assessment marks — including class tests, assignments and seminars — are mandatory components of the final grade. Mandatory
  • 6 Students must carry their own stationery. Sharing of materials is not permitted during examinations. Note
  • 7 Re-examination and scrutiny of marks shall be governed strictly by University of Calcutta examination regulations. Note
  • 1 Students must switch off or put mobile phones on silent mode before entering the classroom. Using phones during class is strictly prohibited. Mandatory
  • 2 Students must not enter or leave the classroom without the permission of the teacher while the class is in progress. Important
  • 3 Noise and disturbance in corridors and common areas that may disturb ongoing classes is prohibited at all times. Important
  • 4 Students are responsible for keeping classrooms, laboratories, and other college spaces clean and in proper order. Note
  • 5 Eating and drinking inside classrooms and laboratories is not permitted. The canteen and designated areas should be used. Note
  • 1 Ragging in any form — physical, verbal, psychological or online — is a punishable criminal offence under Indian law and UGC regulations. Strict
  • 2 Any student found guilty of ragging will face immediate suspension, expulsion, and/or police complaint as per the applicable law. Strict
  • 3 An Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad operate on campus; their decisions are binding on all students. Mandatory
  • 4 All students must sign and submit the anti-ragging undertaking at the time of admission and at the commencement of every academic year. Mandatory
  • 5 Complaints of ragging or harassment may be lodged confidentially with the IQAC, Principal's Office or UGC Anti-Ragging Helpline: 1800-180-5522. Note
  • 1 A Student Grievance Redressal Committee is constituted to address academic and non-academic complaints in a fair and time-bound manner. Note
  • 2 Students must submit grievances in writing through the prescribed form available at the administrative office or the college website. Important
  • 3 All grievances will be acknowledged within 3 working days and resolved within 30 days of receipt under normal circumstances. Note
  • 4 The identity of the complainant will be kept confidential. Anonymous complaints may be addressed at the discretion of the committee. Note
